IT Systems Manager/Specialist
The key role of the IT Support Technician is to provide first and second line multi-purpose support to end users across the various operating environments and software packages deployed throughout the company.
The role includes administration and maintenance of the company's internal and external servers as well as being proactive at spotting potential problems and improving the IT infrastructure of TeleArk's call center.
Job Requirements:
a) Supporting Windows clients, software packages and hardware.
b) Supporting all business areas including researchers and in marketing activities.
c) Supporting and administering the VoIP phone system including Asterisk and Polycom phones.
d) Day to day server administration of all environments and server applications.
e) Assisting with any related business activity assigned by a business manager
f) Ensuring all support requests are dealt with promptly and resolved or escalated.
g) Ensuring the multiple backups from the different environments are successful and necessary action is taken to resolve errors or failures.
h) Carrying out any software, client or server administration work as required and ensuring any line of business applications are available in accordance with specified service levels.
i) Researching, planning and implementing proactive improvements to the current IT infrastructure, procedures, policies and applications.
j) Ensuring all business area activities are carried out correctly and efficiently, in a professional manner and on time.
k) Occasional software development including web development.
l) Playing an active role in the planning and implementation of IT projects; this may include managing some projects under supervision.
Essential Experience:
a) Practical hands on experience of software and hardware installations.
b) Proven problem solving experience in typical software, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and Ubuntu
c) Proven experience in administering VOIP infrastructure
d) Proven experience in administering Google Apps
e) Intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS.
f) Technically proficient to at least intermediate standard with Linux environments specifically RHEL/Centos and Debian, MySQL and LAMP
g) Virtualized environments specifically VMWare ESX.
Desirable Experience:
a) Content Management Systems specifically Drupal.
b) Server roles specifically cPanel, Remote Desktop Services, VPN, DFS and Operation Master roles.
c) Web developer skills such as in PHP and SQL.
d) Polycom phone systems.
You may have experience of the following: Systems Administrator, Server Administrator, Support Technician, 1st Line Support, Helpdesk Administrator, Application Support Assistant, Support Analyst, Support Services Technician, IT Support, Systems Analyst, 2nd Line Support, Server Support, 3rd Line Support etc.
Pay dependent on experience and education.
